Homelessness prevention helpline

Getting temporary accommodation from the council.

Shelter Scotland homeless from 11 Jan 2026 — If you’re homeless the council must offer you a temporary place to stay when you need it. 0808 800 4444   Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Closed on bank holidays. Calls are free from UK landlines and most mobile networks.

Frontline Fife’s Accommodation Services manages temporary accommodation on behalf of Fife Council.  Out of Hours Service. Contact Fife Council on 0800 028 623 for further advice to find out more about being referred to temporary accommodation.

Midlothian Council’s housing team – Accessing accommodation at Jarnac Court. Out of Hours access can be arranged by calling:  07593563389 or 0131 353 0555 OR Pentland House- is a large accommodation space, providing emergency and temporary accommodation and support. Accessing Pentland House is via Midlothian Council’s housing team. Out of Hours access to emergency accommodation can be arranged by calling: 0131 201 0450
